Frances McNamara Spada

SCHENECTADY – Frances C. Spada, 92, entered peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Thursday at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Frances was born in Schenectady on April 23, 1920. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School, and began working at Barney's, the former Maqua Company, then continued her employment with the General Electric Company as a reproductions and photo clerk in print services, Bldg 273. She retired in 1986 after 34 years of service. Family was most important to Frances, and shared her many wonderful virtues with them. Frances was a sports enthusiast and an avid bowler. She enjoyed her trips to the casino, especially Las Vegas. She was a communicant of St. George's Episcopal Church. Frances was predeceased by her mother, Florence McNamara Cody, her beloved husband Henry "Hank" Spada in 1989 and a brother Edward McNamara. She is survived by her loving daughter, best friend and care giver, Vonna Famiano, loving daughter Janice Thompson and her husband Rick, all of Schenectady. She was Gram to 7 adoring grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to thank Fr. Paul Blanch, Dr. Voleti, NP Kerry and the Ellis Nursing staff of A4 for their love, care and compassion. Services will be held on Tuesday at 10 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Street and then to St. George's Episcopal Church, N. Ferry Street, where a Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11am. Interment will follow beside her beloved Hank in Sts. Cyril & Method Cemetery, Rotterdam Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Tuesday morning from 8 to 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George's Episcopal Church, 30 N. Ferry Street, Schenectady, NY 12305 or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN.
