Eugene "Gene" Zotta

SCHENECTADY – Eugene "Gene" Zotta, 82, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Memorial Day, Monday May 29, 2017. Gene was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Gaetano and Filomena Vertone Zotta. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, class of 1953, and served in the Korean Conflict with the Army's 1st Calvary Division, 16th Reconnaissance Company. After his honorable service, Gene was employed with the Golub Corporation with 40 years of service as store manager at various locations, retiring from the Watt Street Price Chopper in 1994. For some years he was proprietor of the Blue Jay Tavern and Restaurant. He was a member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge 2157, and Iroquois Rod and Gun Club. Gene was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Michael Zotta and Donato "Danny" Zotta. He is survived by his step-daughters, Lisa Anderson and Alison Paluti; sisters-in-law Lorraine Zotta and Elizabeth 'Betty' Zotta, several devoted nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held on Friday at 9:30 from the Rossi & Ditoro, 501 Union St and then to Our Lady Queen of Peace, Princetown Road, where a Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Interment will follow with military honors in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Friday from 8:30 to 9:30am.
