Caroline Bylina

October 4, 1927 - October 4, 2014

SCHENECTADY – Caroline Bylina, 87, passed away on Saturday at home, surrounded by the love and peace of her family. Caroline was born in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn on July 4, 1927 to the late Joseph and Minnie (Zimmerman) Steuer. A strong and independent woman, Caroline married her husband Jacob A. Bylina on February 4, 1947 and together they located to Schenectady setting roots for their future family. She was employed for over 20 years for the NYS Department of Civil Service. She served as a past Elder at State Street Presbyterian Church, enjoyed card games with her friends at Catholic Charities Meal Site in Mt. Pleasant and most recently at the Ten Eyke. She especially cherished the times spent with family and friends at their country home in Galway. Caroline's family is grateful to the Visiting Nurses Care Choices Program, Dr. Conlon, Dr. Colman and his nurse Dawn and Dr. Gorla, for the care, compassion and respect bestowed upon our mother. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jacob A. Bylina, on October 13, 1989 after 42 years of marriage and her sister Minnie Gibbs. Caroline is survived by her loving children, Claire J. Bylina, of Scotia, Noel J. Bylina and his wife Deborah, of Greenville, SC and Rhoda Bylina and her husband Donald Dalbey, of Scotia; grandchildren, Justin Bylina, Geoffrey Bylina and Julie Dalbey; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501Union Street. Interment will follow in Parkview Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10am until the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Caroline's memory to Catholic Charities Senior Services, Meals on Wheels, 1473 Erie Blvd, Schenectady, NY 12305
