Anthony J. 'Tony' Perretta
December 19, 1943 - January 25, 2022
NISKAYUNA - Anthony J. ‘Tony’ Perretta died peacefully with his daughters by his side on January 25, 2022. He was born on December 19, 1943, in Schenectady where he was raised and lived for his entire life. Tony was a 1961 graduate of Linton High School and graduated from Albany Business College in 1963. He served in the Air National Guard from 1963-1969, before beginning his 30-year career with the City of Schenectady as a senior investigator. Tony was kind, generous, loving, and fiercely loyal, as evidenced by his many lifelong friendships. He loved to play cards, read the paper, watch sports, travel, and take trips to the casino. He was always up for anything. He enjoyed vacationing at the beach and boardwalk in Seaside Heights, traveling to see professional baseball games, and playing golf. He was an avid Mets, Knicks, and Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved spending time with family especially at the holidays. He grew up surrounded by many cousins and was accustomed to large family gatherings, many of which took place at the family home on Rugby Rd. He loved good food, an occasional martini on the rocks with 3 olives, black licorice, saltwater taffy, and cashews. He took immense pride in his five grandchildren and loved watching them in all of their activities. The stories and memories of our time with Tony will live on in our hearts. Tony is predeceased by his parents, Vincent (Jimmy) Perretta and Colleda Castiglione Perretta, and his beloved wife Kathleen DiCocco Perretta, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 1980. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Bennett and Lori Birmingham; his sons-in-law, Andy and Todd; his sister Tommasina Perretta. He also leaves behind five adoring grandchildren, Luke Bennett, Kathleen Birmingham, Anna Bennett, Natalie Birmingham, and Evan Birmingham, and many beloved cousins, loved ones, and dear friends. Services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, Union Street. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Saturday from 8:30 – 10:30 am.
