Anthony J. Isgro

Schenectady – Anthony J. Isgro, 95, returned home to the Lord on January 19, 2022. Tony was born in Via Tore, Sicily a son of Pietro and Vennera DeAngelo Isgro. He immigrated to the United States with his family in September 1929 settling in Schenectady with family and friends. He attended Franklin and Oneida schools and was a 1945 graduate of Nott Terrace High School. Tony was drafted into the US Army and honorably served as a medic during WWII. His work ethics were instilled in him as a young boy; he worked at Avon Market after school; 18 years at the Army Depot and retired after 38 years from the US Postal Service in 1984. Tony was a faithful, kind and generous man. He cherished his family and enjoyed living. He was predeceased by his siblings, Joseph, (Emily), Carmen, (Angelina) and Fr. Salvatore Isgro. Tony is survived by his devoted nephew, Joseph and Cindy Isgro; great-nephew and nieces, Matthew (Kelly) Isgro and their daughters, Hailey and Aubrey and Katie Isgro; niece, Julie Ann (Ken) Gordon and great-nieces, Samantha (Ricky) Hain and Sarah Gordon; and dear friend, Pat Madden. Services will be on Saturday at 8 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral, 501 Union St and then to St. Anthony’s Church where a Mass will be celebrated at 9 am. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Friday from 4-6 pm. Masks will be required for all services. Memorial contributions may be made in Tony’s memory to St. Anthony’s Church Restoration Fund.
