Anna M. Fossella

April 18, 1931 - September 7, 2016

SCHENECTADY – Anna M. Fossella, 85, lovingly entered into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. Anna was born on April 18, 1931, a daughter of the late Nicola and Anna (Carnavale) Fossella. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1949 and began her long tenure with the General Electric. Anna worked at the main plant before retiring from the Research and Development Center as an executive secretary in 1983 with over 30 years of service. She was also a woman of service to her community, volunteering her time at the Dominican Retreat House and the Glen Eddy in Niskayuna. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception and the Rosary Society, before its closing. She is a devoted parishioner of Mt. Carmel Church, the Women's Society and the former, Suscipiat Canora Society. Anna enjoyed traveling with her sisters; bowling and reading. She was a very kind and charitable woman. She felt especially blessed spending time with her family and bestowing her generosity to her nieces, nephews and their families. Anna's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the entire staff on the Central Park Unit at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center, for the efficient, kind, and dignified care Anna received. Anna was predeceased by her four sisters, Angelina Pace Bonfiglio, Rose Palmo, Marion Alteri and Eva DeNovio. She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Angelo Pace, Ida Burgess, Ann (Robert) Adams, Rosemary (Leonard) DePasquale, Frank (Victoria) Palmo, Cassandra Rossetti, Michael Alteri, Carl DeNovio, Jr., Gary (Frances) DeNovio, Lynn (Daniel) Gaudio, Nicholas (Patricia) DeNovio; many grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews. Funeral service will be held on Monday at 10am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street and then to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Pleasant Street, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 5 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Anna's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101 or Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St., Schenectady, NY
