Frank T. Salvino

SCHENECTADY- Frank T. Salvino, 73, passed away on Thursday at home surrounded by his adoring family, after a warriors battle with cancer. He has now gone into the arms of Mary and Jesus to his eternal rest. Frank was born on November 28, 1939 a son of the late Raphael and Bernice Grigoleit Salvino. He was a 1958 graduate of Linton High School. Frank began working for the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craft workers in Albany, retiring in 2003 after 50 years of dedicated service. He was a master craftsman, with an artistic ability. His creativity and talent made him sought after for various intricate jobs, including a glass serpentine wall at the Holiday Inn on Nott Terrace, and restoring sculptured plaster work at Proctor's Theatre. He was proud of his talents, but most proud of sharing them with his children and grandchildren, teaching them all his trade skills to remodel their homes. Frank was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He taught by example, with his kind loving ways. It was Frank who taught his children to drive and that tradition carried onto his grandchildren and just recently with his 16 year old grandson. He liked to fish, he loved cooking and had a passion for gardening and model railroading with his youngest grandson. He was a member of the Local #2 and a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church. Frank was predeceased by his parents and a daughter, Sheryl Galiano. Left to mourn his memory is his beloved wife of 35 years, Patty (Formichelli) Salvino, whom he often sang to a bit off key " I love my Patty because she's precious to me"; his loving children, Sharon Banta (Scott), of Baytown, TX, Michael Bennice (Kathy), of Glenville and Sarina Ciraulo (Pat), of Ballston Lake, siblings, Madelyn Bradley, of Ballston Lake, Barbara Salvino, of Rotterdam and Robert Salvino (Li-Ming), of Singapore; his adoring grandchildren, Nicole McCardle , Jennifer Iovinelli (Jeff), Mikey Bennice, Tristan Ciraulo and Andrew Ciraulo; great-grandchildren, Domenica and Gianni Iovinelli; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held on Monday morning at 8 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, and then to St. Paul the Apostle Church, Albany Street, where a Mass will be celebrated at 9 am. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Sunday from 2 to 5pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Frank's memory
